Since January 2019, in order to obtain a residence or settlement permit in Switzerland, non-citizens must prove that they have knowledge of the language spoken in their place of residence (upgrade the required levels).

  • Level A1 oral is required for the residence permit (C)
  • Level A2 oral and A1 written for the settlement permit (B)
  • Level B1 oral and A2 written for naturalization
